Mission

Our mission is to further promote the interests of our association and our members. We strive to make a difference by educating and providing valuable information within our lake community.

Purpose
The purpose of this association and the general nature of its duties shall be to maintain and improve the body of water in Sherburne County known as Sandy Lake and to increase the popularity of our common interests among Sandy Lake residents. We want to have fun and develop friendships when we are together working on projects. We encourage all Sandy Lake residents to become association members. On this site you will find updates from the Sandy Lake Improvement Association and other important information about our lake.

We are happy to see the loons back   again this year! There is nothing more   beautiful than seeing loons on our lake   and listening to their soulful call at   night while sitting by a lake campfire.

Prevent Oak Wilt - Don't Prune Oaks!

Oak Wilt prevention is easy.  Do not prune, cut, injure or wound   oak trees during the spring and summer months. If a tree wound   occurs during this time, apply tree paint immediately.

Remember the A's to prevent the spread of Oak Wilt.  Do not prune   or cut any oak trees between the months of April through August.

Sandy Lake Boating and Access Rules

Sandy Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in Sherburne County.  Please help us keep our lake clean and safe by following a few simple rules.  Be courteous, be safe and have fun!

  • Prevent the spread of invasive species by carefully cleaning your boat and trailer both before and after access use.
  • No power-loading of boats at the accesses. Power loading a boat causes significant damage to the access. Slow down and use a winch instead of powering the boat onto the trailer.
  • Take your garbage and unused bait with you when you leave.

  • While boating, circle the lake in a counter-clockwise direction.
  • Boat Launch access hours are 6:00 a.m. to 30 minutes after sunset.  Please respect these hours as both accesses are within residential neighborhoods.
  • Watch for loons on the lake.  There is an active pair of loons nesting on the lake.  Please give them distance.

Facebook is coming!
A SLIA Facebook page will be launching soon.  It will  be a forum for Sandy Lake residents to share lake activities, lake events, and lake social happenings.
